A successful painting is Alive! It evokes emotion and draws the viewer in. The choices you make will mean the difference between high art and low art. What is essential to the painting and what gets in the way of your feelings about the subject or the truth of the subject are important questions to ask. This three-day workshop will focus on what is essential in seascape painting and painting in general. Basic art principles will be demonstrated and discussed as well.
Karen will start with a morning demo on the first and third days. The rest of the first day, students will be working on sketches. On the second and third day, students will be gathering their own coastal plein air painting studies, sketches, and photo references. At the end of the last day, there will be a group critique.
